Using the Defra Council returns 2005/2006 we have created a quick way of estimating the landfill tax your council will have paid in 2006 and an estimate for each year thereafter until 2010.

Enter the first three letters of your Council:
* Based on the DEFRA Landfill Tax escalator, every tonne of household landfill currently attracts tax at the rate of £24 per tonne. In 2008 this increases to £32, in 2009 to £40 and in 2010 to £48 per tonne. Even if landfill tonnages only increase in line with government estimates of 1.5% per annum, your bill could double over the next 4 years.
